I am a P2 pilot who just relocated to Denver this winter. Can someone recommend a good location to work on kiting skills and/or a training hill?

Thanks and look forward to meeting the other club members!

P2? Let's get you your P3 and start flying Lookout Mountain! As for hills around Denver, i'm not too familiar with anything super good for a training hill. I'm in northern Colorado and don't have any training hills here. I just take the wing out to a flat field and kite it around for a while. You might check out Ruby Hill in south Denver. The north and south might be good to play around a bit. Not too sure about the legality issues concerning launching from this hill for a small flight. Ground handling might be more acceptable. You might want to wear a bullet proof vest if you choose to hit up Ruby Hill. Good luck finding a spot mate! Seriously though, look into your P3 and start getting some real air time Smile

I'm a HG , not PG, but it seems like the Boulder site would be particularly good for a PG to kite around at, and even get some flying in if conditions are from the NE.

Can some PGs chime in about this.

Hmmm,

My own experience is that Boulder can show some potential for kiting but is rarely great. Light winds plus the turbulences from the houses around make it difficult...

It's all about the conditions.

Boulder is a great kiting candidate. Grassy field to set up and fold up in. Usually plenty of other pilots around to visit with and discuss technique. It's never been "beach-coastal" perfect, but as a kiting/training location, I give it two thumbs up.

For instance, that kite for two mintues requirement for your P2, that's not the easiest thing to do there. But you get plenty of practice bringing your wing up. You also get plenty of take off and landing practice from the various launches.
