Hydraulic Fracture in Acrylic (My Research at Mines)

Postby Luke Frash » Fri May 04, 2012 6:55 pm

Hey all,

For those of you I have chatted with about my research work at Mines or hydraulic fracturing itself, here is a video showing a recent test I did. In this test I fractured an acrylic sample using SAE 80W90 gear oil with a resulting peak pressure of around 1500 psi. In the video showing the fracture, you can see the fracture actually growing if you look at the mirror on the right. Enjoy!
