I'll join in. Haven't done any XC yet but plan to start some XC later in the year.

Suggest that for HGs we consider three classes and people could join in on more than one class.

Single surface
Double surface flex
Atos / Rigid

Muzzi,
please sign me up for it,

can we have a 'how -to/ instructions' session at the Club Meeting? perhaps we can also type up the summary of it and post it on the site for everybody to review?

Rick

Yes, good idea. Let's sponsor an XC clinic to kick off the competition. Get the old pros to talk about thermal/terrain physics, how to choose a course based on the day's weather, what to do, look for, how to respond, safety, planning, the whole shootin' match...

Muz,

You're the one with the program knowledge (Leonardo). You could give us a primer on the subject.

When does this actually start/end?

Oh, BTW, I'm in.
Blue Skies,
Laynesta!

The contest can/should run the whole season (until the annual banquet maybe ?).

Leonardo is actually a very simple xc database. Everybody who has an pgforum membership can upload a flight to global leonardo database. There is also a Turkish leonardo which i use. In order to upload to TR leonardo you need a TR pg forum membership. i believe once we buy the leonardo program for RMHPA contest, RMHPA forum membership should be enough to upload a flight. All these flights that are uploaded through different websites are sent to global leonardo aswell.
My computer knowledge is limited. I think we can add rmhpa contest leonardo to the webmasters responsibilities.

How do we upload flights to global leonardo?
1. go to http://www.paraglidingforum.com/leonard ... /alltimes/
2. click on main menu and submit flight
Image

3. fill in the blanks accordingly. remember leonardo only accepts IGC files. for more info about igc and how to convert other gps files to igc see: Google :D

Image

4. Click 'press here to submit the flight' at the bottom of the page.
You are done.

The program calculates the possible points and chooses the kind of flight that gives the most points to pilot

You can filter the flights depending on glider type, glider class, xc type, country, date, glider brand, or club/league
We should be on this xc league once we start the contest.

I think we can add rmhpa contest leonardo to the webmasters responsibilities.

Muzzi...

From what I am reading the web hosting, installation, upgrades, maintenance is in with the 140.00 Euros. Theoretically we could do this for free as Leonardo is freeware thanks to the developer. However setting it up could prove to be time consuming and a pain... I would be up for it if I did not have a day job and did not want to fly on my days off ;-)

http://www.leonardoxc.net/support/viewtopic.php?t=168

The only thing we would need to do is have a link to "our" Leonardo from the RMHPA site. I don't mind doing this and I don't mind working with the developer Manolis provided Chris does not mind me having the "keys" to the RMHPA system.

Right now at 17 registered pilots will be 8.23 Euros or 11.40 USD. Again I don't mind getting this thing in motion provided someone else is not already working on it.

I suggest making the entry an even $15 and use the leftover funds for a beer/mineral water/pizza party. ;-)

Let me know what ya'll think and we will get this thing started.

Norville,
Thank you very much for the offer. If I would have known that you have these kind of computer knowledge I would have nominated you for the webmaster position way before.

I have been in touch with Manolis the Leonardo devleloper and Chris Webster. We have decided that best course would be to pay the 140 Euros and link to our own Leonardo server. It will have an address such as:

xc.rmpha.org

At this point I just need to pay Manolis and Chris will set up the link and we should be off and running hopefully able to start submitting flights by April 1st.

We will be able to add pilots as we go along.

I think this will be an awesome tool and a fun way to improve. One of my goals is to make Boulder this season even if it is with MR yelling at me the whole way to turn like I love Jesus

More soon

Cool, one of my new duties as Treasurer can be to cut a check fro Leonardo.

Chris, if you are attending the rmhpa meeting tonight, bring the payment details with you.
