Re: Steamboat Open House

Things may change per forecast but right now we plan to meet Saturday morning at the Haymaker LZ 9:30. Whistler LZ is closed for a Volleyball tournament. This is the head up time not an LZ walk through. OD looks to happen early tomorrow.

Re: Steamboat Open House

Hey guys we are still a go for the open house. Friday looks to be high pressure so I don't think there is any hurry to get up the hill as later in the afternoon seems be our launch window.. Lets move the site briefing to 10 am at Whistler park. Saturday is looking good as well. We will have to see a...

Re: Steamboat Open House

Well we are down to a week so I though I would post some details. This post is mainly for HGs. First I think it is time to get a head count of who is planning to attend. We need this because there are only a few vehicles permitted to drive on the road to launch that can haul hang gliders. Please let...

Re: Towing in the grasslands tomorrow

The uppers aren't relaxing as quick as last nights models had shown. They look to peak at 12 then drop the rest of the afternoon. We have pushed the meeting time to 12 in hopes that the more optimistic models are correct and do some work on the rig. If the uppers drop we tow if not.....well you got ...

Re: Columbus Day Gathering in Alamogordo, New Mexico

I reserved a few days off work and am cashing in some credits with the family to go. The best flying trip I have been on was the Columbus day fly-in down there a few years back. Hope it is as good this year.

Re: Williams Saturday 9/17

The compression did cause it to be windier than forecasted and the valley flow did cross it on launch. But we managed to get enough straight cycles to get 11 pilots off launch and soaring. Cloud base was at 17k and the Aspens were fantastic. Good to see so many smiling faces.

Williams Saturday 9/17

I am a little tentative to post this because I am not 100% convinced, but only having one solo mountain flight this year I am crossing my fingers. Forecast has SW early turning W mid morning with good convection. My concerns are the lighter launch winds allowing the valley flow to dominate and causi...

Re: Friday Cold Front?

I like the 1 o'clock launch window based on early morning models and mostly meetings at work. Hope to be at the water tank parking around 11:30-12.

Just a reminder that the miners field is no longer a landing option. Like Jim mentioned use the water tank LZ or head south.
