Big Air Day at VG 14 Oct

Big air day at Villa. Everyone soared until they got cold. Gilles got to 17k despite all efforts to stay lower. I flew down to the bat caves, back up North of launch, back to the bat caves again. Nice having all seven of us getting a superb soaring day. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFDvANmCLqs

Re: Ann Dunlap, 1967-2018

Ann posted up a lot of great videos but this one is of that spectacular day at Whale (near Villa Grove) during Fly weekend last year. A lot of people had great flights that day and Ann's flight set a few personal bests in an incredible year for her. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3shJ5CjWq-Q Ann lik...

Re: HG Villa Thur-Sun?

Villa looks blown out for Sat other than very early flights and even that is questionable. Multiple forecasts have gusts in the 30s and that means 40 to 50 on launch.

We have had some spectacular late glass offs lately, but launch conditions have been strong with lower forecasted winds.

What Rich said...

I'm in. Going to PG with Jeff in the AM and plan to catch a ride up for afternoon HG.

Friday looks real good and Sat looks promising too.

HG Villa Thur-Sun?

Rich and jj planning to fly HGs at Villa Thursday, but will check the forecast and might switch to Williams if it looks better with Wednesday evenings forecast. Currently Villa is looking better. I plan to fly Friday and Saturday as well and the winds seem a little lighter so possible for PGs, espec...

Aerotowing in CO

A view of what is like to Aerotow out East of Aurora, CO. Cart launching including towing to a low cloudbase and a nice view of the field with the Tug getting ready to launch another HG.

Flying Villa Thur, Fri... 5/23

The Villa grove forecasts for Thursday and Friday look good. Several of us will be flying. We plan to head up from the old LZ at 8:45am. That way we can be set up and ready to launch if the morning cook is working, or if some people need site intros. Will likely head back up for a late afternoon or ...

Re: Spring 2018 Crawfords Trip

I think Josiah has the best plan so far. It is out there a ways but Looks like Gordo over Memorial Day weekend might have the best weather for flying. If so I might be up for the slightly longer drive there as compared to the Crawfords.

Re: Yaesu FT65 Questions

Please let us know if the mod worked. One huge problem with the Yaesu radios is their badly designed screw in connector. At first this seemed like a good idea but in flight the cable twists and you have a stuck mic situation where noone can use their radios because the cable turned 1/8 turn and the ...

Re: Spring 2018 Crawfords Trip

Hi Jeff, I'll be bringing a wing and a bag so I can fly whatever suits the conditions. Looking forward to flying with you again. Been a while. Unfortunately the conditions have been questionable. But the good news is that people are exploring some lesser flown or new sites so more options are openin...

Re: Spring 2018 Crawfords Trip

Very interested. Perhaps hit Dino on the way there or back.

Also planning to take an extended Memorial Day weekend off to fly somewhere: Villa, Gordo, maybe even Cove (Richfield UT).
