To that end, I hope that the long time pilots will take a little time this season to offer their time as site guides and sled ride helpers so that we can maintain the skills of the newer folks. I would suggest Bull, Williams, Villa, Willow, and other sites that you think are conducive to early/late day sled rides as well as beginning soaring flight. It takes a little extra time (gotta get up early!) and effort, but I know that the long term reward is obvious to you all.

For those ready for their sponsored flights from Lookout, seek out a sponsor you trust and try to learn as much as possible. Lookout is obviously a sensitive site, and the pilot rating is due to the LZ obstructions as well as the conditions that can change rather rapidly. Treat it with respect and you will be rewarded--not only with great flying but the respect of your fellow pilots.

Finally, when things are tough like this, we need to focus on what is right and strive towards those things. We have a great potential as a community  and each of us has a responsibility to one another in terms of maintaining our flying privileges over the long term. Try to remember this when you are out on the hill.  SF
